El domingo 2 de marzo se llevó a cabo la 97ª edición de los Premios de la Academia en el Dolby Theatre de Los Ángeles, Estados Unidos. La ceremonia fue conducida por el presentador de televisión y comediante estadounidense, Conan O’Brien.
La obra de Sean Baker ganó la mayoría de las nominaciones, entre ellas Mejor película, Mejor guion, Mejor dirección, Mejor montaje y Mejor actriz. Mientras que The Brutalist se llevó el premio a Mejor fotografía, Mejor banda sonora original y Mejor actor. Por otra parte, Brasil ganó por primera vez en la historia el premio como Mejor película internacional por I’m Still Here.
Durante los Premios Oscar hubo un homenaje musical a 007, que contó con la participación de Margaret Qualley, y también de Lisa de BLACKPINK, Doja Cat y Raye, quienes interpretaron las canciones más emblemáticas de la saga. En el In Memoriam fueron recordados emotivamente David Lynch (Blue Velvet), Maggie Smith (Harry Potter), Shelley Duvall (The Shining), Donald Sutherland (The Hunger Games), entre otros.
